After his urology residency Dr. Imani completed a fellowship in endourology and is a member of the Iranian Urological Association, the European Association of Urology and the Endourological Society. RIRS: laser stone surgery without an incision

In RIRS a flexible endoscope travels up the natural urinary passage and ureter into the kidney, and the stone is turned into fine fragments with a laser, with no incision and usually one night in hospital. The method suits stones up to about two centimetres, stones in the lower pole of the kidney and patients for whom extracorporeal lithotripsy has failed. For larger stones Dr. Imani uses PCNL. TRUS-guided prostate biopsy: early diagnosis of prostate cancer

When PSA is raised or the examination is suspicious, a prostate biopsy guided by transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) is the most accurate way to a diagnosis. Dr. Imani performs the biopsy under local anaesthesia with antibiotic cover and, based on the pathology, decides between active surveillance, surgery or referral for other treatments. A kidney infection (pyelonephritis) presents with fever, chills and flank pain and damages the kidney without timely treatment; recurrent infections must also be checked for stones, obstruction and incomplete bladder emptying. In male infertility, azoospermia (zero sperm) is evaluated with hormonal and genetic testing and, depending on the cause, hormone therapy, varicocele repair or sperm retrieval is proposed.
